Cal Cities Roundtable: Impacts of SB 357 and City Responses

Is your city dealing with increased levels of prostitution, human trafficking or loitering that is causing safety issues? Please join us on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 2:00 p.m. to share information with other cities regarding strategies and enforcements efforts that have helped your city to address this issue.

As you may know, some cities have experienced increased levels due to the repeal of the loitering for prostitution statute by SB 357 (Wiener). Last year, the Legislature addressed some of these issues by passing AB 379 (Schultz) which reinstated some of the provisions for commercial sex and human trafficking. Assembly Michelle Rodriguez has been working on an audit request to review the impacts from SB 357 until present. To help with this effort, we would like to hear from cities on the challenges and any success stories from cities dealing with this issue.
