Cal Cities Roundtable: AI Applications in City Planning

Friday, June 26, 2026 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM   iCalendar Pacific Standard Time

Are you using AI in your planning department or exploring how it might support your work?

Join us on Friday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. for a roundtable discussion focused on how cities are currently using artificial intelligence (AI) in planning operations, projects, communication, research, public engagement, and other planning-related work.

This discussion is intended to be a practical, peer-to-peer conversation where planners can share experiences, lessons learned, concerns, and ideas related to AI implementation and use. Whether your city is actively using AI tools, testing pilot programs, developing policies, or simply beginning internal conversations, we would appreciate hearing your perspectives.

This roundtable will provide an opportunity to:

  • How planners are currently using or exploring AI
  • Tools, programs, or pilot projects being tested
  • Opportunities and limitations of AI in planning work
  • Internal policies, guidance, or staff considerations
  • Concerns, lessons learned, or implementation challenges
  • Resources or examples that may be helpful to other cities

We also encourage cities to share examples, ideas, or resources that may benefit fellow planners and support future conversations within the Planning Community.

Moderated by: Rob Eastwood, Community Development Director, Campbell and President, Planning and Community Development Department

Roundtable Discussions are available as an exclusive member benefit and are open to Cal Cities member cities only. Discussions are member driven and will not be recorded. The Zoom meeting information will be provided after registration. For questions specific to registration, please contact Isaac Black.
