Join us on August 21, at 10:00 a.m. for an upcoming roundtable to debrief from this year's fire hazard severity zone map designation process. The State Fire Marshal is tasked with mapping the fire hazard across the state based on environmental conditions of what can naturally spread a wildfire. The maps create designations of moderate, high, and very high that trigger specific fire protective requirements. Cities must adopt these designations via. ordinance through a public process.
This roundtable is an opportunity for city leaders to share feedback and input on how they have navigated the map designation process given the importance and sensitivity of wildfire impacts among communities.
Moderated by: Melissa Sparks-Kranz, Legislative Advocate, Environmental Quality, Cal Cities
